Аннотация

This research article explores the functional and structural roles of synonyms within the English and Uzbek vocabulary systems. Synonymy is analyzed not merely as a coincidence of meaning, but as a sophisticated linguistic tool for precision, emotional expression, and stylistic variation. The study employs a comparative-typological approach to identify how etymological layers in English and socio-cultural honorifics in Uzbek shape synonymous rows. By following the IMRAD structure, the paper investigates the semantic boundaries of synonyms and their impact on translation and language acquisition. The results highlight that while English synonyms often differ in register and technical precision, Uzbek synonyms are frequently distinguished by their degree of respect and emotional intensity.
